Favorite Place on Campus: I do not have a favorite place on campus, however I do enjoy all of it as a whole. The lake and beach are a nice way to relax on a hot day, the Student Center is very accomodating to all students, and Old Campus is especially pretty year-round.
Best part of SIUC: The community on campus and off. Everyone is very welcoming and inviting. Campus staff is very helpful to point you in the right direction if you're in the wrong one. Knowing that you can turn to someone you barely know is very relieving, especially to new students, incoming freshman and transfer students. SIUC offers a lot more than meets the eye!
Advice to new students: Attend all classes your first semester. Jump on less difficult classes your first semester here to obtain a high GPA. GET INVOLVED! The best way to meet people and succeed is to get involved. Attend RSO Fairs, or join intramural sports with friends on your floor in the residence halls. Volunteer. After graduating employers want to see more than a high GPA and test scores. Yes, those are extremely important but they want to see you out there doing things as well. So get out there and get the full college experience.
