SOAR

Name: Alyssa Potthast
Hometown: Highland
High School: Highland High School
Major(s): Public Relations    Year: Sophomore
RSO/Clubs: Public Relations Student Society of America, Alpha Lamda Delta Honor Society
Hobbies/Interests: Skydiving, Hiking, Working Out
Favorite Place on Campus: The Recreation Center. Whenever I am stressed out or upset about anything, all I have to do is go to the rec and work it out. I am always in a good mood when I am done.
Best of SIUC: What I love about SIUC is the team spirit. Going to any game, whether it is football, basketball, volleyball, or whatever sport, you can feel the energy from the crowd. Everyone is there to support the Salukis. When there are football games, I can hear all the students cheering from my apartment.
Advice to new students: Go to all of your classes. I have found that this is the key ingredient in becoming successful. Attending classes is the best way to understand the material, and to keep up with your class work. You will then also be aware of any changes made in the syllabus. Along with going to class, I have noticed when you start the semester off strong, it is easier to end with a good grade.
